CologneArena/Lanxess Arena, 1999-2000
Europe´s largest event-dome is located in the city´s new hotspot on the right bank of the Rhine. It is now bonding directly to the new city-hall, which was erected about 18 months later. The design of the more than 2.000 m² (stretching over all four storeys), completely glass-made and backlighted foyer-walls offers a permanent change of views onto a collaged pattern of city-lights, which, reflecting itself in the more than 12m high glassy front, crossfade and blende the Arena appearance with the real, surrounding evening city scape.
