Cologne City Hall, 2000
The 260 m long, constinously ascending main hall of Cologne´s City Hall is structured by five huge, up to eleven meters high artpieces. As reverse printings on glass they are originated from alienated satellite photographs zooming into Greater Cologne. Zooming the vistors with each plate deeper into the cityscape they correspond with the walking distances within the hall. Yet the approximation remains alleged: the closer one gets to the city´s surface, the more the alienations are blurring the images. Whereas walking back out in opposite direction the pictures clear, until one finds himself back the real exterior.
